I'll go even one better. How about a nickel? That's right. You forget about how and why the Ayatollah came into power. How about because the Shah would not sell the U.S. oil for a lower price. So, what does the U.S. do? Find a leader who promises them the price they want. The difference was $0.05/per barrel. But, like so many despots we help into power, he turns on us. Treacherous being.
(I hope you are not getting scared by all this hysteria.) Now, P.M. Karzai should be able to last since he did consulting work for UNOCAL. Musharraf, OTOH, I'm not so sure about. Watch this as it unfolds and see how the U.S. responds to crisis after crisis. We have one brewing right now in Colombia and Venezuela. That region sends the U.S. more oil than the entire Middle East combined. You better believe Chavez is on the U.S. radar screen.
