HT planning cable television

I just cannot fathom that these guys are actually planning to do IPTV over their current copper DSL lines. They say that it will be limited to certain areas of the island which indicate to me that if you aren't close enough to a CO (DSL) then you're SOL.

I just don't understand why they would invest all this money into this without upgrading their infrastructure. They should at the least, do FTTP like U-Verse. There is a new article with one of the TW execs expeculating as to what they are doing and they mention that it will be similar to U-Verse. I think that would be fine if they did FTTP but ideally I would hope and pray that they do FTTH like FIOS. We can hope and dream. We'll have to see I guess.

It's VDSL2/ADSL2+ using IP-DSLAM remotes, the EXACT SAME ARCHITECTURE AT&T is doing on the mainland /w U-verse.

They are not running FTTH/X because it's not cost effective in Hawaii (only for businesses and that's DIA, dedicated Ethernet capacity).
