Higher uploads?

Are there any plans for Windstream to offer higher upload speeds?

Hello lacibaci,

By the end the year some areas will have VDSL available that will enable upload speeds as high as 4 MB for the customers that qualify.

Any way you could share what areas those are?

Yes please share if at all possible. I signed up for service with Windstream the other day and found out I qualified for the 12 MB package. From what the rep was telling me there were plans for faster speeds but she wasn't exactly sure what was going to happen.

Woah, How much is that going to cost Can't wait for a 33Mbps upload, You did say 4MB right!?
(Yes I know VDSL can't do more then 7Mbps) Why not VDSL2?

I chatted with a Windstream rep, and they said VDSL should offer up to 24 MB download speeds as well. I'm basically just crossing my fingers, hoping that VDSL is available in most areas.

Before we all get excited, I'd like to see which areas and when will see this upgrade. I am very close to the CO and WS was not able to provide reliable 12M (I had to downgrade to 6M)

I would guess Lexington would be on the short list since the cable company launched 30/3 and 50/5 Mbps packages here not too long ago.

Count me as an early adopter if this is released in Lexington.

This could change my whole business model. I would upload to all the systems and channels we serve from one central location. And we could stay with Windstream in Lexington, NC. Looking forward to it.

Lexington, SC is in the same boat as Lexington, KY. Cable Co just upgraded the entire area to Docsis 3.0 speeds with 30/5 and 50/5 packages

I'd be so happy to upgrade from this 768k upload speed

My youtube uploads, uploading videos to family members on facebook, etc or emailing a large attachment

would be so nice

If current rates hold, only 6% of the U.S. population will still be served by the public switched telephone network by the end of 2018. Tom Evslin reports that the 'Technical Advisory Council (TAC) to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recommended last week that the FCC set a date certain for the sunset of the PSTN rather than let the service fade slowly into oblivion as it is doing now.' Since doing 'nothing' isn't really possible, he suggests: (possibly) end(ing) the Universal Service Fund subsidies, ensuring PSTN-dependent services like E911 work on new technologies, and assuring that everyone who now has PSTN service has access to either a broadband or cellular communication alternative

I wonder what this will mean for Windstream dsl in future. With the FCC wanting to eliminate the public switched telephone network across the U.S.

Or could this be why windstream is moving to increased speeds by going to new technologies or whatnot.

That is why I got off of the DSL I was on @ 1.5 Mb no less and moved to 3 Mbps cable. Sure the speed is double but it seems to me the difference between Cable and DSL ( besides 2x the speed) is that it "feels" faster even if the speed wasn't double.
