There was a 25% speed increase notification on last month's Comcast HSI Statement but after cycling the modem I haven't seen any increase. I have Comcast Performance tier 16/2. -- Stop The Mindless Killings Stop Over Fishing |

Is the increase OVER the existing 16/2? Or is 16/2 the new cap?
Download DrTcp
Set Tcp Receive Window to 128560
Set Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.
Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank
Using the drop-down menu in The Doctor set your NICs (Ethernet adapters) MTU to 1500.
Save/Exit DrTcp
Reboot
Rerun the Tweak Test
Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs
Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512
Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.
Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |

1 edit | Yes the increase is over the existing 16/2 tier. Although I'm not sure if I have Blast or not? Hell, I don't even really know if I'm on 16/2? I'm just going by what I've read here at DSLR and speed test comparisons. Comcast is very secretive about such things so it's hard for the customer to know what he/she is getting?
I have Performance, whatever that means?
EDIT: If I'm on a 16/2 tier then a 25% increase should be 20/2.5 -- Stop The Mindless Killings Stop Over Fishing |

FTP Test: 2.1MB/s after 30 seconds
So if I was on a 16/2 tier then it looks as though I have the 25% increase download speed and 50% upload speed.
Thanks for help. The tweak test looks better now. -- Stop The Mindless Killings Stop Over Fishing |

Irish SharkPlay Like A Champion TodayPremium,MVM join:2000-07-29 Las Vegas, NV kudos:3 | Not much there. Put the RWIN back to 128560.
Do you have a router? If so, make sure the MTU is set to 1500 or Auto.

Irish SharkPlay Like A Champion TodayPremium,MVM join:2000-07-29 Las Vegas, NV kudos:3 | The speed test can vary from test to test and with closely values of the RWIN.
You can set it back. You want to use the lowest RWIN that gives you the most consistent speeds without errors.
Thats about as good as it gets. It isnt going to get much better than that. Put a fork in it youre done. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |
