Re: No promos available for my account?
Best I could do on a re-up through cancellations was an offer of $29 for family cable (without iO), $45 for OOL, $35 for OV, $15 Boost, Cablecard: $2 -- $126
After getting the $100 TP for almost 5 years, I guess I cant complain.
The best way to get a promo is to live in a Fios area.. Next best is to switch TV to satellite, even if its short term.. After that, drop TV service or lower to broadcast basic for at least 3 months. I have generally found that if your TV service is at broadcast basic or lower, they are in a better position to offer you the promo.
At any rate --- if you just call regular customer service and ask for a promo, they will usually say "We dont show any promos available for your account". Retentions (Cancellation department) is in a better position to offer you something -- however, they generally wont do so unless you call and say you want to cancel. Last year, I did just that -- and inititially the rep just said to me "OK, Ive disconnected your TV service. Is there anything else I can help you with?" and sure enough - sent the signal to the Cablecards right then and turned it off - calling my bluff.
I ended up calling right back 5 mins later after that, to sales, and sales was able to offer me TP for another year as long as I agreed to pay a $20 install charge to reinstate service, and I received Family+iO, OOL+Boost, and OV for $99.
I wasn't in the mood this year to play the game.. At some point, I'll drop to BB or eliminate video completely while porting the OV number out to a forwarding service - and just keeping OOL/Boost+. Then I'll try again for a better deal.
