 | DirecTV and Westell 7500 Really hoping I'm not in the wrong area, but looked around and couldn't find an answer (newbie). Recently changed from an older (dead) Westell to the 7500. Now, DirecTV does not / cannot connect to the internet. Got the "it's their problem" between DirecTV and Frontier (bought the Verizon business in WA where I am). It also won't talk to my Wii. Never had problems with the old modem (old setup was phone line to modem, then to a Lynksys wireless router). I tried just using the Westell, without the Lynksys, and as I had the older setup - no difference. I have no idea what the problem is, and can't find any help anywhere. I have no docs on the new 7500 and am not real technical (but am comfortable following good instructions".
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on / how to fix?
Thanks for all your help in advance! |

| Sorry, no, I don't have other suggestions.
Are the Wii and DirecTV using wired or wireless connections? I seem to recall hearing that the Wii (or some versions) can only use WEP and don't work with WPA. However, I don't have a Wii, so I don't have any firsthand knowledge. -- AT&T Uverse; Zyxel NBG334W router (behind the 2wire gateway); openSuSE 11.4; firefox 4.0 |

 | reply to jfmaster I found the issue (lots of poking around). I disabled the WEP, and now all is good. Hopefully this may help someone else in the future! |

 | jfmaster: The problem you have is not with the modem. The Wii (and X-Box and DirecTV) at my house connects perfectly well with the wireless side of the Westell 7500 through WEP. You do have to set up each of the devices individually, going through their own wireless setup screens. It will work for you. Good luck. |
