 | AT&T Modem/Router Hacking I have at&t's 2wire 2701HG-B. I've made them aware of all of the hacking issues Ive been having many times but they are so incompetent they refuse to and do not have the knowledge to do anything about it. Someone that I used to work for is harassing me online, tracking every website I go to, hacked my email accounts and even sends messages to me from me as if to taunt me. She has also hacked my social networking accounts (facebook, myspace, etc). And recently the computers in my house and other devices such as the ipod touch cannot even connect wirelessly. She is preventing this but I do not know how. Can someone please tell me (1) how is she accessing the modem. I've changed the password many times...the system password as well as the network key. (2) How can I stop her (3) She has hacked our computers as well and I have no way of knowing if she still has access to them because I heard that anti-virus programs cannot catch everything that is on your computer, so how can I be sure she is not still getting into the computers (4) she has a degree in computer programming and her son (I am not sure at this point if he is helping her or not) can build computers from scratch, so this is a very high level of hacking that I am dealing with but I also want to know how can I catch her? She is also wealthy and can get access to whatever else is out there to help her hack my computer and modem so I need some very sound advice and detailed instructions on all of the questions that I submitted. Last, I also want to know which company has the most secure internet service and how is it implemented? For instance, once we change service providers (if needed, I have tried switching modems and that has not helped at all...in fact, she corrupted the one that I had before this one and it stopped working), how would I configure it/set it up to have optimal security? Thank you in advance for your help. |

| reply to deerais There are a lot of claims here and very little evidence to even begin to offer solutions or to even determine if a solution is needed. You say all these accounts were hacked by this person. While that may be true or not true, you do realize that this can be done without any access to your computers, don't you? The passwords for all these services need to be changed. Have you done so? The fact that your devices cannot connect could simply be a technical issue, especially since you have been adjusting security settings to thwart a perceived attack. Getting SPAM email from yourself is relatively common. Spammers do this to thwart junk mail filters. What evidence do you have this person is actually the sender? I don't mean to be rude, but there is the possibility you are over-reacting to a string of events that you perceive to be related but actually are not. The last entity you should be blaming here is your Internet provider.
I'm not even sure this is the right forum for your issues, but please leave it to moderators to find the correct forum. Do not cross-post your issue in multiple forums.
Let's start attacking your problem, one issue at a time or at least one similar group of issues at a time. Let's start with this sentence: "Someone that I used to work for is harassing me online, tracking every website I go to, hacked my email accounts and even sends messages to me from me as if to taunt me"
1) How are they harassing you? 2) How do you know they are tracking every web site you visit? 3) How do you know your email accounts were actually hacked? 4) What evidence do you have the mails sent in your name are actually from the person in question? |

 | reply to deerais said by Kramer: The last entity you should be blaming here is your Internet provider. I so agree with this. AT&T has all the right to decline assistance regarding this matter as they're really not responsible for it. If that's a serious hacking issue then you should have your computers checked. Your statements are confusing though. |
