My DOCSIS 3 trying to come up in Montgomery experience

All last night, internet speeds were erratic. Sometimes 2 or 3 meg, sometimes 5 or 6, sometimes all the way to 9 or so, sometimes below 1 meg. I'm on Edge, BTW. About ten PM, the connection dropped and the modem started going nuts. But the orange LINK light turned blue. I called Knology and they were pretty clueless, they said my 6120 was getting no response. They set up an appointment for a tech to come out Thursday and said leave the modem on, it might work its way through this.

This AM, internet was back and running just fine. Blue LINK light still blue, speeds were in the 9+ range. Ping times about 38 or so (last night before the crash they were just below 100).

Looks like they have fixed the constant rebooting of 6120 modems the other Montgomery poster was reporting. Looks like they have also expanded out the DOCSIS areas. I asked the tech I talked to last night what hub I am in, but as I said, he was clueless. Anyway, they are making progress and just guessing, but it looks like they may be changing the city over and implementing DOCSIS 3 citywide and keeping the speeds the same until they are finished. After all, people like me would scream bloody murder if other parts of the town were getting 25 meg and I was not.

Of course, more info as it becomes available.

ETA: Art Loescher from Knology said my observations were correct. He said a full roll out of DOCSIS 3 is expected by the end of August, but much is going on behind the scenes.

Cool no change here. Keeping an eye out though!
