| Can we make BrightHouse a Real ISP? Instead of some obscure RoadRunner variant
that isn't distinguishable from TimeWarner (and is really just a VoIP provider) - ?
I'll illustrate my point:
First is the default ISP inferred by my IP addy - TimeWarner's Roadrunner.
I'm actually on Brighthouse.
Where DSLR's locator thinks I am
I'd like to change my default ISP - from TimeWarner to Brighthouse.
I'm offered a myBrightHouse choice
My Options
choosing "If this is wrong, Click Here" yields the same choice.

Turns out myBrightHouse is a VoIP provider w/ ancient reviews.
It has a link to the myBrightHouse forums.
MY Brighthouse?
So what's in the myBrightHouse forums?
Nothing!
That's what I'm talking about.
What I'd like:
1) Make myBrightHouse go away (or maybe rename it Brighthouse VoIP).
Have the forum link point to the the functioning BrightHouse forum.
2)Offer a choice for Brighthouse Cable instead of whatever myBrightHouse is supposed to be.
and - I know this may be more difficult...
3)Update the IP locator to differentiate between TimeWarner Roadrunner and Brighthouse.
I assume the ISP/IP database is provided by a 3rd party - is it updateable?
There are users here that could help update it.
Perhaps it would help...
If when we correct/choose our ISP on the front page,
allow our IP block to be ID'd as the ISP we say it is.
Or at least let it go into a queue pending approval.
That ends my rant and suggestion list.

Bradenton, FL | I suspect this is going to be more complicated than that.
Brighthouse offers Road Runner internet service, but so does Time Warner.
Brighthouse used to also offer internet service through an alternate provider - Earthlink. I don't have Brighthouse anymore, so I'm not sure if they still offer that.
As far as I can tell, Brighthouse is a cable TV company mainly, who contracts to also provide internet. I really am not sure who provides the phone service, but it isn't Verizon. |

BrightHouse was spun off of TW, when part of the TW conglomeration didn't like the direction TW management was taking the company.
When BrightHouse separated, they made a number of goofy branding choices.
1st) was sharing the Roadrunner brand and rr.com domain with TW - even though BH owns their own networks and subnets.
2nd) was naming themselves BrightHouse (and the even dumber myBrightHouse).
It isn't as stupid as Bing, but it's up there.
BH is a MSO (multiple services operator), same as Comcast or Verizon.
They are the 6th largest MSO in the US and operate their own phone network.
Earthlink once resold BH internet service - it was a few years back.
I doubt it plays into this.

I think I can help address some of those points.
1). The "mybrighthouse" vendor entry appears to point to a landing page for Bright House Central Florida. This, is would seem, is a redundant to the main Bright House vendor entry, so it can probably go away. I'll take care of that shortly.
2). When you click that "wrong" link, try typing Bright House as two words, it will bring up their cable and VoIP offerings. Select the appropriate entry.
3). It's on the todo list, I promise you that, and it is updatable and from a third party. I'll make some inquiries. |

It's all been a pet peeve of mine for some time.

I believe the vendor data presents it as two words, so there would need to be some additional mechanics built into the regex search on the homepage. Let us get back with you on that? That's all I could ask for.
After reviewing BH's website, I see that I am wrong about BrightHouse being a single word.
It looks like I've been assuming incorrectly for a very long time.
Maybe the logo threw me off, I can't say.
So;
I guess the value of pursuing that depends - if my mistake is a common one or not.
I don't know the answer to that, so I leave it in your capable hands.
