As part of Mozilla’s new rapid release development process the beta development channel has been updated with a new version of Thunderbird. For detailed information about the changes please visit:

• Thunderbird: »www.mozilla.org/thunderbird/6.0beta/
• Release Notes: »www.mozilla.org/thunderbird/6.0b···senotes/

For desktop users, if you previously installed a beta version of Thunderbird you will receive an automated update notification within 24 to 48 hours.

We highly encourage add-on developers to test their add-ons with the new version and mark them as compatible as soon as possible. The Mozilla Developer Network has detailed information about changes in the new version for add-on developers.

As always, the latest released version of Thunderbird can be downloaded from »www.GetThunderbird.com
The latest version of Thunderbird Beta has the following changes:
• Support for Windows 7 Jump lists
• Several fixes when importing email from Microsoft Outlook
• Default mail client check now works with newer Linux distributions
• Various other user interface fixes and improvements
• and numerous other bug fixes

Note, at time of posting, the download link still delivers version 5.

The Thunderbird channels page is done and Thunderbird 7 Beta (7.0.b1) is available for download (no release notes just yet).: »www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel

(link to All Systems and Languages: »www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbir···eta.html )

The Thunderbird team is currently in the proces of creating the same Rapid Release infrastructure as Firefox and we hope to see a Release Tracking page soon.

Thunderbird team needs more 'Early Bird' testers (= the Aurora channel)

More people on aurora

We also need more people on the aurora channel which is the place where
most of the integration between gecko and Thunderbird will happen.

I run and update aurora on a daily basis. The add-ons I use work (even
enigmail which is a binary one). It's stable enough for me to use for my
production and work email. Having more users would give us a larger
pattern of usage and would help finding regressions and crashers earlier
in the process.
