 | Name that pole wire! Can anyone tell me what type of wire (on the bottom) this is? I know the very top wire is electricity and i am guessing that the middle wire is either power (again?) or a telephone line? But whats the 3rd wire?

Thanks!

 | reply to StealthRT Nope sadly can tell ya there's no cable on that pole. Top two are power and bottom is phone, but that's all she wrote. |

 | reply to StealthRT Some days i just wish i could buy cable and just slap it on the poles myself and call it a day. Ugg, regulations.

 | Funny that there is no TV on the poles. It might be buried in the front of the property along the street or the road. Unless you are out in the sticks.
I looked up Ooltewah, TN and found that Comcast is the local provider. You could try them and see what they say about providing service. Unless, of course, you have already done so. |

 | reply to StealthRT The pole is located in Birchwood, TN. Its off the road about a half mile. My home is located about .6 miles off the main road. Half way it does go underground but there is no cable sadly. It stops at the main road. It's whats called being in a rural neighborhood, sadly.
I wish there was some type of government grant i could get to run the cable to my home (Charter quoted me $7,000 to do so).... Insane.

| reply to StealthRT The less expensive answer to your problem: line-of-sight wireless and a neighbor willing to allow you to install a modem and an antenna on their house.
Simply put, you subscribe to service at someone else's address where the service is available, and you install a directional antenna at each end. Essentially you set up a dedicated wireless link to "bridge the gap" between your house and where cable services end.
Can be done for under $1000. |

The jug is unusually located below the neutral wire, that is the 10kva hydro transformer, its normally kept in the power space, ie above the neutral but for some reason in this photo, it is not installed to standard.
The last wire in the pic, is the Bell wire. It is required to have it below the neutral wire, and not have anthing interfere with it such as transformer, etc, thats why the jug is suppost to be within the power space, but this pic is a bad example. -- Happiness is like peeing your pants... | reply to retiredqwest If he is Ooltewah then that's Centurylink copper. EPB and Comcast are in Ooltewah. Maybe there is a pole across the street? |
