OT- Like A Kid On Christmas

Been doing the single vehicle family thing for about 7 years, and am excited that I finally am able to get the truck I always wanted. So excited that I'm posting it on here.

Since this is the OT thread for the day...

Arch, Ant and Kris, I do believe you have some explaining to do:

quote:
Just a quick backstory, I'm a locomotive engineer working near Harrisburg, PA and came across these two lovebirds going at it near the Rockville bridge which crosses the Susquehanna river. I saw it and called my buddy whose was on the train behind me and had him take the picture.

That's normal here in PA. You may damage your car, but hey, free deer meat even if out of season!

Its bad, and This entire week the middle one has soccer training outside from 5:30 to 8:30. She looks sick when she comes home :/

Wednesday we skipped practice to sit outside at the City Islanders game for 4.5 hours in the heat... such fun.

Football practice was cancelled for the schools in my area the past two days. But we've had heat like this in the past. Just stay hydrated, and make sure your elderly family has AC in their houses. Just common sense. It's not pleasant, to be sure, but it isn't uncommon.

One thing I don't understand is why high heat is such a concern for the elderly.

It can cause heat stroke. The body must actively try to cool itself, and the elderly have less efficient ability to react properly to high temperatures. This can be said for any inferm person, regardless of age.

I'm familir with heat stroke, having had it once. Don't go try to learn snowboarding when it's 75F in the SoCal mountains.

As for not being able to sweat effectively because you're old: bizarre.

It's a heat bubble, so to speak. The system over us is being maintained due to other climate type stuff going on around us. It'll break soon. We do need some rain, though. I haven't cut my grass in a couple of weeks, and the neighbors who didn't listen to me and cut theirs have nothing but scorched, brown grass in their yards. That's good for fires...... :P

Oh! We're having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave
The temperature's rising, it isn't surprising,
She certainly can can-can
She started a heatwave by letting her seat wave,
In such a way that the customers say
That she certainly can can-can

We're doomed, doomed I tell ya.

Luckily I am close pals with my dealer and his shop. Whoever traded this in knew it was having tranny issues; had to. Our fault for not test driving more. Finally pinned it to the master cylinder. Wished it was something simpler (flushed fluid, treated, and filled with synthetic; noted slave cylinder was new), but still didn't function as it should. Pushed it a bit, and had to drive in 20 miles to the shop today, in rush hour traffic, shifting clutchless. I don't recommend it.

Hopefully replacement will fix the issues. All else is perfect. Rough month.
