Re: [Rant] Why is it so frackin' hard to find a kegerator

About 50 miles from you. Having a foam problem though. Is it just that I just put it in? I've got it set at 10psi. Is that the problem? Maybe just not cold enough yet? I have my co2 set at 10psi.

New to this keg thing so....
This is what I get. though there was more foam, some went down in the time it took me to get my cam and take a pic

And I need a drip tray

well the foam can be two things either to high PSI (although I keep mine around 9 generally) or the tower isn't getting cooled enough. Sometimes it just needs time to level off though, the first pull for me is always the foamiest.

anyway you can put a probe in the draft tower to see if the lines are getting cooled enough?

If that's the first pour thats typical. I used to bartend through college and we'd dump about a pitchers worth of foam after a keg change.

Otherwise what Dennis mentioned.

Wow really? I don't get any think like that on my kegerator...then again I don't have any outside runs of beer line so I think that might be why.

I'd be curious to see how cold it is getting in that tower. Maybe some insulation might help?

Still trying to figure that out. With my current setup I can get the tower down to 56, 38-39ish inside the fridge. I don't know why it won't go lower. At idle it sits at 62'ish.

I do have probe in the tower. I got the one you linked too.
Here's a pic without the fan going.

I insulated the crap out of the tower and all the pipes leading to it. If I take the top off and stick my finger in there is freaking cold. So I'm not sure if the thermo is off or wtf the problem is. Should get cooler then that though. Maybe I have a leak.

What I'd like to do is use copper but 3" copper is freaking expensive. Maybe I'll upgrade one day.

At bars the kegs may be in the basement or back room so there may be a 20 or 30 foot run to the tap.

Should I flush my lines between kegs, even if I'm getting the same thing?

I would clean the line about every week or 2 to avoid any old beer taste. After every keg change could be the same amount of time?

Cleaned the hose thoroughly to kill any bacteria/mold about every month.

Cleaned the tap where beer is dispensed every week. Just wiped it down.

This was my old routine.

I only clean my lines between kegs, although I have a forward sealing perlick faucet so I think that buys me leeway.

Okay so I was looking online and see the kits with the bottles and pumps ans stuff. Do I need to get one of those or is there another way? And what do you use to clean them?

BTW: I'm buying 6th's so depending on who comes by, they'll last 1-3 weeks.

Well regardless of size I always clean the line when i change a keg.

As for what I use, I just use a kit:

»stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=214

It comes with one step cleaner. So far that's all I've been doing.
