I have a month to month rental contract. My daughter is listed on the contract, and another daughter and her child will be moving in. I want to know how much can the owner raise my rent since I live in a rent control area? (Wilmington, CA) I understand a new contract will need to be signed, but what is the max % the owner can increase my current rent because my daughter and her child will be living here too.
That should be spelled out in your original contract... If the landlord has to make a new contract, then it is probably the same as one person moving out and a new tenant moving in (I'm assuming). Beyond that, I'm not familiar with Rent Control cities.
Rent control in LA is based not only on location but also on the specific address, because certain buildings are exempt from parts of rent control. If you are not certain the LA Housing Department can tell you.
