extending the wireless range

i was wondering if i could add some kind range extender or repeater to my 2wire all in one wireless modem

Sure, you can buy a wireless access point from any number of vendors. for example: »www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory···20access

Now, you can reconfigure many routers to act as access points as well, but this is probablt easier.

I really don't have any specific model that I'd recommend, maybe someone else here will add their recommendation?

do i have to add the mac address into the 2wire ? because i was watching some how to vids on youtube and they show u have to enter the mac address into the modem/wireless router but i don't see anything in the 2wire with setting this up i could be wrong though

There is actually a way to change the broadcast range and frequency of your 2Wire. Go to »gateway.2wire.net then click on home network and wireless settings. There are two settings that matter channel and power. You’ll want to set the power to 10. For channel use any between 2 and 10 avoid using 1 and 11 because they won’t broadcast at the same strength as 2-10. Changing the channel helps avoid interference from 2.4 Ghz cordless phones and other wireless networks which usually default to channel 6. Make sure the 2Wire isn’t near any other cordless devices or large electronics such as a microwave. Hope this helps let me know if it doesn’t.
