In CT market: HD for Channel 10 (Providence NBC affiliate) - the news stations out of Hartford are horrid, Providence competes with Boston... but the SD signal looks like crap. Somehow we have channel 6 out of Providence in HD but not 10. Yeah, not exactly what you were looking for but...

Any channel that comes in HD that MC does not have in CT.

I don't often watch TV but when I do I only watch HD.

I agree with icedcorn, we need Metrocast to get on the list of providers allowing streaming content on mobile devices for services like but not limited to: ESPN 3, HBO GO... It is really a buzz-kill to not be able to access this type of content because my provider isn't 'on-the-list'.

Every month I pay a lot of $$$ to Metrocast and am tortured daily by Xfinity ads & all the cool things Comcast customers have. I am not a hater, but IMO, Metrocast needs to keep improving & adding key features as fast as possible.

Comedy Central HD
PAY PER VIEW HD. If I'm paying to watch a fight, I'd like to see it in best possible quality.

Metrocast upgraded a horribly outdated infrastructure, then quickly fell behind other providers who have fiber optic and hybrid systems.

NO ESPN3.com - no UConn Huskies football for the first 4 games of the 2011 season.

Sadly, none of us should hold our breathe.

I researched this issue last year when I grew tired of my requests falling on deaf ears. As it turns out, the CEO of Metrocast's parent company (James Bruder, Harron Communications, LP) has a hard-on about how providers like HBO and ESPN price their enhanced services. He is on the board of the American Cable Association, and apparently has positioned himself as a champion on the independent cable operators.

Of course, Mr. Bruder, like the entire Cable industry, also opposes a la carte pricing. So ultimately while Mr. Bruder claims he is fighting for the little guy by trying to keep costs to the subscriber down, we continue to pay for a crapload of channels & services we will never watch while not getting the ones we do want.

Re: ESPN3.com - I should add that Bruder doesn't like that ESPN3.com requires Metrocast to purchase, install and host a pre-configured server at each at of Metrocast's franchises. I think I remember reading that each server cost in the neighborhood of $10,000 which he insists would have to be passed onto the subscribers.

Of course, Metrocast can also offset that server cost by selling local geo-targeted ads for any sporting event that is provided on ESPN3.com (so there is additional revenue generating opportunity for Metrocast).

Whether its the standard ESPN channels (ESPN1, 2 and U) or the newer espn3.com model - ESPN is far and away one of the most popular and best localized revenue generators in the cable industry. It's beyond unacceptable that Bruder wages his wars at his subscribers cost.

Thanks for the info. It stinks big time. I guess there's DirecTV...if only Fairpoint had their phat pipe here.

I agree. I like Metrocast but not having Watch ESPN and HBO GO is really hurting the brand.

I don't want to go to DTV but I'm inching closer...
