Re: Tropical Storm Emily

Wwll damn got her knickers in a bunch again didn't she? But not predicted to be more than depression until maybe making back storm well out to sea before fizzling again. And So. FL NEEDS rain.

Amen to that brother - each and every year.

The worst thing about these near misses:
They vacuum up all our moisture for a few days and ruin what rain chances we have.

Maybe up there but is its been pretty nasty (helping to fill Lake Okeeechobee, So FL surface water supply and feeding the aquifers too) in the Miami-Ft L area last few days.... though just showers down here in Key West.... but again we need it and wind wise a very minor storm, but the rain was much needed.

And no offense you have Pat Robertson and the whole $700 Club Praying it away... Maybe working to well....storms after all and hurricanes only hurt Gay and other un godly heathens and their supporters. Let alone a near miss and lots of NEEDED water and not flooding a bad thing... not going to be 40 days and 40 nights.

Where I am (N of Tampa) has been getting rain in most areas.
I happen to live in one where it does not.

For most of 2 decades, I've been watching lines of storms approach my home - only to have them fall apart when they get within 10 miles.
If they travel inland from the Gulf, a break in the line will pass over us. Once the line passes by it fully reforms again.

I can give you street names that mark the boundaries of this effect.

Say what you want about old cracked-Pat, but I've often wondered if our little corner of God's brown acre has been cursed by Him.

And we sort of see the same down here in Key West, for instanstence say Rita and Katrina, and Charlie as infants... but knew what they were going to quickly turn into and glad after us, and so few with internet took our warnings let alone the NWS... WATCH OUT.

In 20 years two major (and countless other 1-2 like R & K and TS) hurricanes Georges 98 and Wilma 05.... if not so compact maybe Andrew (92) but only impacted very upper Keys.

Katrina in fact was so unexpected to come here there was not even a tourist evacuation... ONLY time in 20 years I have seen that. Tourists are PO'd if you kick them out... but never pleasing them, not and PO'd pool is full of deck furniture and there is no power. Hey you are still here and a number of bars with generators even if your hotel does not. Relax be happy.

And again how predictable these things are, wike not.... Katrina went west and sat and gathered strength in the southern Gulf.... and made B-Line for NO no question that was going to happen to the gulf coast if not NO specifically which was really post storn infrastructure failere... just as post Wilma we were flooded thanks to the highway/railroad outlet to the ocean.... again tried to warn many how unpredictable this thing is... and unlike here you can easily get out of the way PLEASE do. Many from there I heard from again but some no one ever did.

And Wilma was a 100 year storm surge we normally don't see... normally being a little spec in the ocean slightly floods but otherwise just sloshed around us. But mainlanlnd storm surrge has nothing to do but pile up.

And here Wilma was the perfect storm.... actually storm we had little surge, we were flooded well after. Hurricane passed north of the keys into the bay pushing the storm on mainland.... but as soon did... the suction stopped, and of course at high tide came sloshing back down FL Bay, again because of orig RR and now highway few narrow channel ways out to the ocean.

I will take those storms very seriously here on out.

But those that pass just south to NW and west N-SE (like Charley) of us generally have minor impact.

And again it was stronger here than forcast and takig a hard right turn. Unfortunately 2am originally they said near Tampa.... most in FT Myers and Punto Gordo were sadly asleep and not paying attention.

Something I will always do, and why I was among the few that knew Katrina was coming here, hitting another party town before NO..

In spite of what the they are saying the low level circulation from Emily is right at the coast in Palm Beach @0640. Mind you It's not much, hardly as exciting as an afternoon thundershower. Just light rain and a light breeze. Most of the rain and convection remains well off to the East.

PS, I Have noticed 92 and 93 out there, but figured I'd let them either get named or a bit closer before opening a new thread.

If anyone else wants to jump on them, by all means feel free to do so!..

No way. You are doing excellent at keeping them clear of SE Florida. Keep it up!

Line em up!
Right now we have a whole Line of "Invest's" out there.
So far it looks like 93 is the only one that may come close to the USA.
