abeaton join:2010-07-30 Biddeford, ME | Hi Bruce,
My name is Aaron and I'm a support technician with GWI.
To my knowledge, we are not replacing our dslams at this time in regards to the speed upgrades that we're performing. We have instead implemented a software update internally that will uncap all tiered GWI subscribers and provide them with the most speed possible for their particular location in respect to our facility offices throughout the state.
I will be sure to bring your question to the full attention of my colleagues when I return to the office on Monday to ensure that I'm providing you with a 100% accurate answer.
Please let us know if you have any further questions! |

 | by the way the NJ speedtest is broken somehow, I speedtest fine everywhere except the NJ test now, try speedtest.net or even speakeasy.net/speedtest you will get very different results. |

I will check with management tomorrow when I return to the office to find out when this update is going to be rolled out for the Waterville area in regards to the speed upgrade.
Also, a system engineer provided me with an update in regards to your first question regarding dslam replacement. This speed upgrade is mostly a software update with our systems to uncap previously tiered customers as I had originally voiced. The only hardware changes that are being made apply to those customers that are currently on equipment not capable of achieving speeds over 7/8MB. In that scenario, we are moving those customers off of those ports and onto ports capable of achieving greater speeds. |
