Re: [No Edit] Cell Phone Pictures?! Its funny this forum started back when all we could afford was a 1-4 mega pixel camera, and we excitedly looked forward to new releases as the photo quality was improving. We went from point and shoots to DSLRs for the latest technology to get the best photos we could. Now we have come full circle exploring cell phone photos. Just sharing some thoughts I was having looking through this thread. |

 Pikes Peak, Iowa! |
I shot this one Sunday at Pikes Peak in Iowa with my Alcatel OT-880. It's not a wonderful camera, but I'm sure loving this wallpaper shot I took.
Got a couple of different views with my 10mp Canon.

GeekGirl1Premium join:2007-01-28 Morrisville, PA kudos:2 | reply to Gemologist I took my HTC Inspire 4G with me on a trip to Portland OR. On the flight in, we passed south of Mount St. Helens. I didn't realize until later that the weather (air temperature, humidity, etc.) was causing a thermal distortion across the wing. Very cool .
Images are unedited, but scaled down from 3264 x 2448 for the forum (I wanted max resolution for the trip... you never know). This shows the distortion along the wing:

Now, Mount St. Helens:

The short horizontal rods across the right wing edges are for draining static electricity off the fuselage, which helps when flying in clouds that could produce thunderstorms.
Note how the ripples have changed between shots. A shot I took a few minutes earlier didn't have them. Luck trumps planning.
I also got a very nice movie of the takeoff. I set it to Airplane mode (disables transmissions that could interfere with the plane) and "stowed" my portable electronic device against the window. |

Thanks, but it's a 300 MB file (.3gp, over 10 minutes) which is a lot of space. It needs some serious editing, as only a few minutes are really worth viewing. It's got a great "impress your friends" factor, though. |

It's got a great "impress your friends" factor, though. Well get editing then. I took about 1 hour of a flight I took with a friend. It was my first single engine prop plane flight... second flight of any kind. I know what you mean by only a short amount of "worth viewing" footage. -- mbsastronomy.com |

Taken on my old phone, a Samsung Rouge. Best camera on a phone I've ever had.
And the second picture taken by my new phone, Droid X. I had to run this through PS to get some of the shadow detail back, but couldn't do anything with the blown sky. This is a 5 pic pano taken in phone and stiched in phone with stock software. |
