Washington Redskins
Unsigned players: WR Mike Furrey (UFA), DE Chris Wilson (UFA).

Key departures: UFA CB Carlos Rogers, Aug. 2 (to 49ers); UFA OT Stephon Heyer, Aug. 2 (to Raiders); Traded DE Vonnie Holliday to Cardinals, July 31 (Redskins get RB Tim Hightower); Cut OT Mike Williams, July 30; Traded DT Albert Haynesworth, July 29 (to Patriots Redskins get 2013 fifth-round pick); Released DE Phillip Daniels, July 28; Released C Casey Rabach, July 28; Released NY Maake Kemoeatu, July 28; Traded DE-DT Jeremy Jarmon to Broncos, July 28 (Redskins get WR Jabar Gaffney).
Key re-signings: UFA S Reed Doughty, Aug. 5; UFA DE Kedric Golston, Aug. 5; UFA ILB Rocky McIntosh, Aug. 5; UFA QB Rex Grossman, Aug. 2; UFA CB Phillip Buchanon, Aug. 2; UFA OT Jammal Brown, Aug. 1 (five years); UFA LB H.B. Blades, Aug. 1; UFA WR Santana Moss, July 29 (three years, up to $15 million).
Sorry to see Ex-Terp Heyer move on, wish him well. There has been a re-tooling of the lines... the O-line with the trend toward zone blocking needed a little more agile/quicker linemen, not saying that what we now have is a lot better than last year, just more suited to the scheme.
Same for D, 3-4 alignment needs different skill strengths than a 4-3. Last year was kind of a patchwork (and the beached whale Albert didn't help at all). Now there is a true nose tackle (Cofield) whose job is to hold the line and keep blockers from getting to the LBs. And Josh I think is a little better at man-to-man than Carlos, so the D can be more flexible in what they call.
Ravens »www.profootballweekly.com/2011/0···y-team-2 quote: Baltimore Ravens
Unsigned players: OT Jared Gaither (UFA), LS Kevin Houser (UFA), WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (UFA), RB Jason McKie (UFA), OG Tony Moll (UFA), C Daniel Sanders (UFA).
Key arrivals: Ex-Texans UFA S Bernard Pollard, Aug. 4 (two years); Ex-Texans UFA FB Vonta Leach, July 31 (three years, $11 million).
Key departures: UFA FB Le'Ron McClain, Aug. 3 (to Chiefs) UFA QB Marc Bulger, Aug. 3 (retired); UFA CB Fabian Wasington, July 31 (to Saints); UFA S Dawan Landry, July 29 (to Jaguars); OG-C Chris Chester, July 29 (to Redskins); UFA CB Josh Wilson, July 29 (to Redskins); UFA WR Donté Stallworth, July 29 (to Redskins); Released RB Willis McGahee, July 28; Released TE Todd Heap, July 28 (to Cardinals); Released NT Kelly Gregg, July 28; Released WR Derrick Mason, July 28; Released DT Kelly Talavou, July 30.
Key re-signings: RFAs Oniel Cousins, LB Tavares Gooden, LB Jameel McClain, S Haruki Nakamura, S Tom Zbikowski, July 30; UFA DT Lamar Divens, July 31; UFA CB Chris Carr, July 30 (four years); UFA OLB Prescott Burgess, July 30; UFA OG-OT Marshal Yanda, July 29.
There are some depth questions Bulger retired, no experience at back-up QB, I think they will add someone cut from elsewhere. OL is very thin with experienced backups From The Sun, O-Line and backups quote: LT: Michael Oher / Brady Bond LG: Ben Grubbs / Collin Madison C: Matt Birk* / Bryan Mattison RG: Marshal Yanda / Justin Boren RT: Oniel Cousins / Jah Reid
Those 2 things concern me, inexperienced backups at WR and RB not so much, nice to have, but we have all seen rookies step in and contribute in those positions... but not at QB or at least half of a season at OL. Inexperience there loses games. -- Was a Cruise Fanatic, one cruise on Princess cured me. | I agree and to add to it, I just think it's just another way for teams to rape fans with high ticket prices and concession stand prices. I say, do away with the preseason altogether. High school and college teams don't have a preseason and they seem to be able to get their sh!t together real good without it. -- »www.jrslaterphotography.com/

Between John Beck (I remember him from his "Flamingo Road" TV-series days, btw) and The Rexster, there should be plenty of entertainment value behind center in Washington this year-- though likely not of the sort that wins football games, I fear. | | RxdoxxPremium,Mod join:2000-11-03 Middle River, MD kudos:6 Host: Software Washington & Balti.. What? no Kellen Clemens bandwagon? The better the winner plays the worse draft choice to get his replacement
I missed quote: The team acquired running back Tim Hightower as part of a trade with the Arizona Cardinals. In exchange for Hightower, the Redskins sent veteran defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday and an undisclosed draft pick to Arizona.

That is two trades of D-line Holliday/Hightower and Jarmon to Broncos for WR Gaffney. Carter and Albert now Pats (and Albert has missed 4 practices/undisclosed, what else is new) Clearing out 4-3 type players, we may not recognize a bunch early on, but I guarantee the D will be a lot more fun to watch, just so many extra/different things you can do from a 3-4. On a 4 man pass rush, the 4th rusher can come from anywhere and be a choice of several players.
Grobinette is right, it is pre-season, I don't expect to see much more than plain vanilla, it is just time to learn the players, and begin the process of identifying them without having to see their number... probably the first one most of us will be able to "know" is Orakpo, and Cofield's size should make him a quick gimmie. -- Was a Cruise Fanatic, one cruise on Princess cured me. Is that truly the name of a player on the Washington Redskins football team? I've heard of Kellen Winslow, I know of Roger Clemens-- I even know of Samuel Langhorne Clemens. 'Kellen Clemens' rings no bell here, though.
Is that who we got in return for McNabb? One third-stringer for another? | | RxdoxxPremium,Mod join:2000-11-03 Middle River, MD kudos:6 Host: Software Washington & Balti.. Philadelphia & Nor..
| LOL, nah he came from the Jets
My problem was I mistook him for another player until I saw the player playing in the CFL in the last week and realized that I had something mentally messed »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleo_Lemon »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kellen_Clemens
Cleo Lemon, Kellen Clemens no Idea how I crossed the two, I mean like they both are very famous one major difference is that one of them made the Ravens training camp in 09 and the other made the Skins training camp in 11, wow aren't you impressed?? -- Was a Cruise Fanatic, one cruise on Princess cured me. | reply to Rxdoxx With the lockout shortening some of the pre pre season preparation and all the new players, pre season games are probably going to have to be vanilla because they couldn't play any other flavor.
I'm wondering how many of those guys did keep the workout regimen going during the lockout and what kind of shape they are going to be in.
Then again, I have lost a lot of enthusiasm for the Skin's. Danny has worn me down to a ho hum kind of numbness about them. -- There's nothing like good food, good wine, and a bad girl | | ABPremium join:2006-04-04 Leesburg, VA kudos:3 Reviews:

| reply to Rxdoxx said by Rxdoxx:. . wow aren't you impressed?? Doc, I'm highly impressed with the way you're able to stay on top of the minutiae of player histories and movement.
You may want to consider taking up scouting or GMing. You're the sort of insightful person who would recommend taking a pass on Ryan Leaf to draft Tom Brady instead. (Of course, you'd also recommend to keep a Stephon Heyer level of player-- but hey, nobody's perfect.)
At any rate, you provide off-the-cuff info that I don't see anywhere else, and I thank you for it. | | | reply to grobinette said by grobinette:Then again, I have lost a lot of enthusiasm for the Skin's.
