Connection slow after switch to Business Account

I know this makes no sense, but it’s what’s happening.

I just moved into a new condo and had Eastlink install High speed for me to evaluate. My work will pay for the connection now, so Eastlink switched my service from home to business. Ever since that switch took place, the service sucks!!! It’s up and down and super slow when it is working. I’ve called tech support but they don’t see any problems.

How can switching the account from home to business have caused so many problems. Like I said earlier…it makes no sense.

I work in the computer industry, so I’m relatively comfortable with networking. The guy on the phone has been no help.

Any ideas out there???

Getting Eastlink to deal with problems is like pulling teeth. Had internet, TV, phone go out randomly for the course of three weeks before they admitted there was an issue in my area.

Each and every time you call, they pretty much start you over at step 1 and run you through all the standard stuff.

Oddly I had more success complaining through their twitter account via direct messaging than calling. You have to let them know you are more than frustrated with the issue and don't have time to be wasting constantly calling the same issue in.

The modem logs can help get an issue put through, they well dispatch installer crews to check things out. Should nothing get resolved, you have to attempt to get them to escalate it and have an Eastlink technician check things out.

If all else fails, let them know you are tired of the issues and plan on switching to FibreOP as soon as it is available to you. Don't expect any kind of discount for your troubles/lack of service. That's something even harder to get out of Eastlink.

Who knows, could be as simple as during the switchover they pushed a new config file to the modem that messed things up for you. Could always call up and say you want to do a modem exchange and drop by one of their kiosks at one of the malls and exchange for a new one.
