Locking down Westell 7500

I own a vacation condo that I rent out to strangers through an agency. When I am here, I need my internet connection, but I don't the strangers using the connection. I locked down the wireless, but when I came here today, the last renter had left an ethernet cable plugged in. How can I lock down my Westell 7500 router when I am away so that it won't work with an ethernent cable?

Thanks!

Put it in a locked room or locked cabinet.

I figured it out, I think. I just signed up with DynDNS.org. Before I leave the property, I will block all ports except 2420, the remote administration port. Since my ISP keeps changing my ip addy, that's the only way that I can consistently administer my router.

Is that a good plan?

Keep in mind that anybody with enough physical access to plug in an ethernet cable also has enough physical access to press the recessed "reset" button and restore the modem to factory default settings. The only way to prevent that is to lock the modem away so that there is no physical access.

If someone performed a factory reset, they would still need my CenturyLink account # and password to set up the router so they could get on the internet.

My sister didn't want people to be physically able to access her wireless router at her shore cottage. "Official" router security boxes are rather expensive. Instead we picked up:

She drilled air holes around it to dissipate any heat, and mounted it on the wall down near the floor in a corner of the room. It's out of sight, locked, and the renters can't touch it. She does, however, allow them wireless access via a guest account.
