The AT&T tower here in my town is rumored to be using a T1 for backhaul. It's pretty much useless unless you don't mind using it at 3 am when most people are in bed sleeping. If you try using it during the afternoon and early evening it's worse than dial-up. The best speed I have ever pulled in is 1.2 Mbps at 3 am. My device is capable of getting up to 7.2 Mbps.
