Belkin Wireless G Router Stops Connectivity

Hello, I have a land computer that I previously had a router connected to that provided wifi internet access to my laptop. A storm came and took out the power lines to the phones, and the internet dropped off for about two weeks until the electricity was repaired.

Now that all's up and running, I cannot gain wifi internet access for my laptop. The internet for the land computer will not work with the router as a part of the circuit, but the internet for the land computer will work with the router excluded from the circuit.

I've looked at a couple of forums / manuals where people have had the exact same situational problem that eventually was diagnosed successfully through following the manual directive, but I don't believe Belkin's manual included a "vista scenario", only Windows XP and 2000.

So to review, the modem works and the internet runs. When my router is brought into the circuit (wires in the right places etc.), the internet stops working, though the router is functional and has been tested successfully to work on other land computers. I don't know why my land computer is now rejecting my router. Any thoughts on the matter would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

opcost
