What type of sync problems? If your downstream Attenuation is above 60 dB you will have frequent sync issues in most cases as that means your line is very long and not stable due to distance.

constant resyning never up for long per earthlink install he was 80% sure it was the modem after he tested the line on his end, I have bought a new modem an actiontec gt784wn. so far so good best speeds I have ever had, will need to see if it stays stable. It has been up now for about 2 hours and has not gone down yet. ping test gives me an A and speed testing is giving me 1.2 to 1.45, I am on a 1.5 line so that is far better than the .35 to .87 I was getting and on average, I would only be up about 10 mins out of an hour if I was lucky,. I was down more than up and could be down days at a time all the while the syc light would just blink, I just need to figure out how to see the other computers on my network now with router function of this new modem. my laptop is solidly connected to the internet via the wireless built into the modem. hey doc know anything about electric meters? I have the kind that transmits a radio signal to meter reader that drives by the house. I have two of these right next to where my phone line comes into my home. would it be wise to move my phone line say about 20 feet away, I can do that if I need to.

Smart meters should not cause any DSL interference. Mine is right next to my NID and I have no problems from the smart meter Ga Power installed years ago.
