| NH System - 10/1 price increase In my recent bill Metrocast announced they are jacking up equipment rentals.. Effective October 1, 2011, the following rates will apply for MetroCast modem rentals: Standard Wired Modem: $5.00 eMTA (Phone Modem): $6.00 Wireless Modem: $7.00 Wireless eMTA: $8.00 For more information about MetroCast go to MetroCast.com, or chat with an online representative at MetroCast.com/Support. For your convenience we accept all major credit cards and offer online bill pay or recurring bill pay options.
I have a wired eMTA modem right now @ $3.95 a month...so yeah, it's going to $6.00.
You know I wouldn't mind if that eMTA Wireless supports DOCSIS 3.0...but I'm not hearing boo about it. I'd love to not have a router and an emTA..one less power outlet.. |

 | While rate increases are never welcome, they are necessary in order to ensure that relied-on services like Phone and Internet perform at the highest levels. The rate changes recognize that the costs of maintaining and servicing Phone and Internet equipment continue to increase. The rate changes also support infrastructure and platform improvements, supporting hardware and software, and ongoing firmware updates that continually improve the quality of the service we provide.
Additionally, MetroCast is preparing to release a new Wireless eMTA in the weeks ahead. This will allow you to have one piece of equipment that will provide all three services (High Speed Internet, Digital Phone, and Wireless Home Networking). This product will be available October 1, 2011. Please mark your calendar and call customer service at 800.952.1001 to get this new product in October.
Thank you for your feedback and thank you for being a MetroCast customer.

| I emailed the regular customer support and was told they don't know if it's a DOCSIS 3.0 modem.
If it's an ARRIS eMTA, I believe most of their recent products support Docsis 3.0.
If for $8 a month you'll give me a wireless Docsis 3.0 modem and it has dual band, that would be a pretty good deal! |

 | reply to billh491 Yes, the MetroCast Wireless eMTA at $8.00 per month will support DOCSIS 3.0. Each of our wireless devices supports D3.0. Please reach out for this product upgrade that will be available October 1, 2011.
Again, thank you for choosing MetroCast.

For something like that, it would be easier to run a regular eMTA running only phone, and then getting an SB6120/6121 as well (and cheaper if you buy the D3 modem as there shouldn't be the rental fee). -- Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.

 | reply to icedcorn I swapped out my Metrocast-owned modem with a brand new 6120. They happened to be on sale at Amazon last week, so I snagged one. I've got 4 channel bonded downstream, but still only a single channel of upstream...
Now I just need Metrocast to offer a super premium tier package that will actually make use of D3. If anyone from Metrocast or Harron is listening, I'd gladly pay more money each month in exchange for more bandwidth. I could buy two 20mbit connections, but bonding them is a pain in the ass... Why not let me buy a single 40mbit one?! |

tenpin784I Went To The Dark Side? join:2001-03-30 New Durham, NH | Bonding them isn't to bad. I used to do it with a linux router (started on WRT54G, moved to WRT54GS, then moved to a decommissioned laptop.) |

 | reply to icedcorn Yeah, but writing iptables firewalls is something I do at work, so when I get home the last thing I want to do is start right up again. |

Count me in. I'm willing to pay more cash here in Northeastern PA. Will some one take my money all ready? -- Where is that marketing manager when you need him? -GA |
