Does anyone know if port 25 is blocked? I'm trying to run my own SMTP server but emails are no long being sent out.
I used to be with Velcom but I have recently switched over to a Nexicom DSL login. I had no issues with sending emails directly from the SMTP server when I was with Velcom but since the switch I noticed emails are no longer going out.
I have an SMTP relay as a backup but I would like to know for sure if Nexicom is blocking port 25.

reply to jbiss_ca On a residential connection, yes it is blocked.
That is the only thing we block, but unfortunately we have no choice with the amount of compromised computers that are out there. -- Nexicom - »www.nexicom.net

reply to jbiss_ca Yes, as bbuchana has mentioned it is blocked on residential connections - it is also blocked on business connections *however* if you have a static IP address (residential or business) then it is not blocked.
Hope this helps - let us know if you have any more questions. Or PM me your IP address (if it's static) and I can tell you if your SMTP server is reachable. -- Nexicom High Speed Internet - »www.nexicom.net/
reply to jbiss_ca Thanks a lot for the answers! I have my SMTP relay server going through different port so if isn't an issue anymore for me, I just wanted confirmation since I couldn't find the information anywhere else.
