I completely understand this. I believe my electric company charges me a $2-3 fee every month just to have a connection. This is reasonable to me.

It's not that simple. As an example, if you used 900 KWH for the month (and you were charged $0.10 per KWH), then you would be billed $90 PLUS the $10 fee.... (it's not just a minimum fee).

Okay, so it's a service fee that goes away when you hit 1000KWh. Makes some sense but is marketed badly
