 | [Speed Problem] Changed modem, changed dns, still slow I've been experiencing very slow (270/318k) DSL (direct modem,no router); ELNK sent a new ZyXEL modem, made no difference. I changed the dns to settings that Dr. Olds recommended 2 years ago (somehow they had gone back to automatic) but still no improvement in speed. Anyone have any suggestions? thanks much |

If the tweak test confirms all is well then you have an ISP side slowdown. You would need to request escalation to TRON (aka Tier 3 Support - Vendor Relations) to find out why the bandwidth reduction is happening.

 | hi Dr. Olds, I tried the tweak test a while back and again this morning - it seems to be hanging while downloading a file. I see the instructions note that hanging may indicate I need to do a manual configuration of the firewall to allow access to certain ports, but I don't know how to do that. Can you advise? I have Norton running on XP.
thanks again for all of your help |
