[netopia] 3347-02 suddenly dropping Internet connection

Hi,

We've had this DSL modem for well over a year with absolutely no problems. Over the weekend, we started having intermittent problems with the Internet connection. AT&T ran a remote diagnostic and said there was a problem between the modem, computer and phone.

It was escalated to Tier 2 and they said there was excessive noise on th eline. They sent out a tech who found no problems.

Could it be the modem going bad? What stats should I look for to troubleshoot this? BTW, is the Internet LED supposed to always be on, rock-steady? Mine flashes randomly.

To get the line statistics from the modem:

-Enter Expert Mode

-Click onto "Troubleshoot" (at the top of the page)

-Select "System Status"

-Go to DSL > Statistics

It is normal for the "Internet" light to flash- mine does this all of the time.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. As it turns out, AT&T found a line problem somewhere and informed us that they were working on it. At this time, all's well so the modem clearly was not the culprit.
