 | List of ATT downed towers? Got iPhone 3/3G with ATT. Since Tropical Storm Irene on Sunday at noon I lost cell service. It's very sporadic, going from No Service, Searching or 1-2 bars. Now and again it goes to 3 bars, but if I move a 1/2 inch it goes out.
I finally called them today and they told me there's a tower down 3/4 of a mile from me.
I also have Virgin Mobile service and I have friends that have Sprint and T-Mobile and they're all out too. I assume they're all on the same tower.
Does anyone know if there's a website or spot on the ATT website that lists the towers and if they're up and running or not? If they don't I'm sure they think it's some sort of "security" thing or something.
Thanks. |

| Not to discourage you from posting, but to warn you not to expect a timely response. The AT&T Northeast forum is geared to DSL users of the AT&T wireline product, as deployed in the State of Connecticut. I checked the DSLR Wireless forums, but none for AT&T Wireless, or the in-between company, Cingular Wireless.
I don't know of any such list, and likely none of the regular DSLR users do, either. It may be a while before anyone who does know comes across your post. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

| reply to FallenAnjel Here's a third party site to check tower locations: »www.cellreception.com/towers/towers.php.
AT&T's official tower site requires registration: »www.atttowers.com/.
A quick web search on Google seems to indicate that there are no sites to view tower status. -- HCN: Because you deserve a rest!

Not necessarily, but it is possible since most cell carriers no longer own the towers but a "tower" company owns the physical tower and rents space on the tower for 1 or more carriers. |

 | reply to FallenAnjel Thanks everyone!
I did call them afterwards and they did say there was a tower down about a mile from me. Two days later I got my full 5 bars back on iPhone(ATT) and virgin Mobile.
@pleekmo: Thanks for the links. |
