 | Hard Drive crash..........I may exceed cap restoring files using Carbonite.
Is there any way I can get dispensation if I exceed the cap this month ? |

backup 321 3 copies 2 mediums 1 off site. A local hard drive is quicker and does not hit your caps. |

 jsz0Premium join:2008-01-23 Jewett City, CT | reply to mangurian I can't say it's official policy but if you're not exceeding the cap constantly a little spike here and there probably won't be an issue. At worst they might call you and remind you there is a cap and you went over. If you explain the HD failure I think it won't be a problem. |

Right thus the reason for 321 one copy on your main hard drive a back up online in case of a fire and a backup on an external hard drive for quick recovery no need to wait for Carbonite to down load gigs of files over a capped Internet connection. |

 | don't need a fire There are numerous way an external HD can be destroyed.
p.s. Carbonite worked very well. The software recognized that something was amiss and it froze my backup.
- files restored using my latest local drive image (usually days to weeks old) will not overwrite newer files in my carbonite backup . - files no longer on my client will not be deleted in the Carbonite backup. Normally, deleted files are disposed of after 30 days.
