| [Pets] Just back from ... ... a wonderful 5-day stay in the San Juan Islands with a former classmate and her brother's family. We had a wonderful time. I still didn't see the Orca whales, but did enjoy the owls and her sister-in-law's dogs. Because of those awesome pups, I really got a kick out of this.

| Yeh, that owl vocal sounds just like Hal and, some nights, it sounded like there were 20 more of his relatives, as well as other varieties that only started calling after dark, so I didn't see those.

I think, although it is definitely not the tallest, Mt. Baker is my favorite Washington State mountain. That's the summertime view. Usually, of course, it is pure white for the skiiers. I love the shape of it.
I was being lazy snapping that shot through the windshield. It would have been better had I stepped out of the car and taken it from the rail. That was the tiny Whatcom Chief Ferry, though, 10 minutes tops from Lummi Island to Bellingham.

| Bellingham? Interesting, I don't know if it is still the case, but it used to be that one of the brain centers to the optics industry was in Bellingham.
