Rogers admits it throttles games

This is just disgusting. Rogers should be ashamed of it's business practices.

Not surprising, but they probably think in their warped little heads of theirs that if they admit it, it'll look good for their image for admitting fault and claiming they'll work to fix it.

My entire saga can be found here:
»Rogers answerable to CRTC over ITMP again

Note the last paragraph in the CBC story.

I liked one user comment on the CBC story:

"Good thing they are opening a Bank - it will give people more reason to want the company to go under."

LOL
Amen, brother.

They're setting themselves up the same as the US banks, "too big to fail".

In regulatory terms,

Cable is non-essential.
Cellular is non-essential
Internet is non-essential.
There are plenty of banks.

Die Rogers, die!!!!

Right now the Canadian banks are the surest short sale on planet Earth. The price per share of the big 5 today we may never see again for at least half a century. Buying or starting a Canadian bank today is like buying stock right before the crash of '29.

Why? With the exception or RBC, they all reported "record profits" and have figured out a new way to make more money, instead of charging more fees, they'll just increase the interest rate spread in loans and LOC.

The housing market Canada wide is in decline while not in a freefall yet. As we've seen in America credit will dry up meaning the down payments for mortgages will first be raised to 25 percent then likely to forty. Being eligible for a loan will be a thing of the past. Profits will plunge year over year for the big 5 shaving at least ninety percent off of today bank share values.

I don't see that, CHMC covers the bank's ass so I don't see the minimum rising.
Toronto is to damn expensive already, I can't imagine someone trying to raise almost 90K on a 300K house (and that's cheap)

So since they throttle above 80kbps Halo Reach is throttled based on this information of 35-60kbps during normal game play, spiking at 150kbps during killing/being killed.

And thats 6v6 not the host probably. How does one ever get host on Rogers if they throttle P2P above 80kbps upload...in any game.

Halo would be affected if p2p were active at the same time, unless Rogers whitelisted it already.

@rogers.com

while i can cut them some slack on it taking time to resolve issues, what is starting to aggravate me is nothing is broken until the press is alerted. then suddenly "there MAY be a problem". dear rogers you get a lot more respect if you own up to mistakes right away, and work to fix them, rather than deny everything until you're totally proven wrong and called out in the media.

oh and 80kbps for games is just dumb.

No, still running their DPI systems when they know their systems can't tell the difference between different types of traffic is dumb - knowingly breaking CRTC Policy and not giving a damn.

They've known about this problem for a year now and did nothing about it til I started making a fuss about is and complaining to the CRTC.

i started the first CRTC complaint and honestly things have gotten worse as a gamer. For example, I can't raid in WoW (25 man raid) on Rogers without eventually lagging out and getting disconnected. The only way I can raid is to use a VPN. And no, I'm not doing any P2P other than having my game open.

Hey Justin..

Rogers & Global Crossing still haven't fixed the issue with their link.. As we've seen previously with Bhell at the beginning of the year, upgrading hardware to increase capacity for a peering partner takes anywhere from 2-4 months to fix. Considering it just started in August.... You guys are gonna be waiting a while unless you keep paying for the VPN. :\

When I hit that page the scrolling bottom-feeder ad was for Rogers.

Nice going CBC.
