Alkaline battery charging?

I have a number of devices that use AA and AAA batteries and so I am developing quite a box of old worn batteries. I remember from some years ago about an alkaline battery charger and decided to look into it. I found a number of reviews about The Battery Xtender. The site said it is re-designing both the site and the latest Battery Xtender.

I was just wondering if anyone has had any first hand experience with this or any other Alkaline battery charger.

»www.batteryxtender.com/ (first couple times I got a "connection was reset" error), now the "re-design" notice comes up.

»www.theweb2u.com/ (Battery extender notice in case the first link fails again)

It would be safer and easier to go out and buy rechargables.

But some of my devices do not like the lower voltages and some devices are used in a cold environment which affects the voltage even more.

Lithium batteries have no drop off in voltage during cold conditions.

I own one.
Depending on the type/size and brand of the battery, you can get away with recharging alkaline batteries up to 15 times. I've probably got away with doing this only 5 or 6 times. I think because you have to throw them in the charger before the battery reaches a certain voltage cut out level.

The cadmium batteries are what bother me the most. Cadmium is a very nasty polluter, it is a heavy metal.

Re: Alkaline battery charging?

You're welcome.
It's a pretty great charger. The fact that it can re-charge throw away alkaline batteries is a plus, however this was not the primary reason for what I purchased it for.
