| Looking for an ISP in Long Beach I'm currently using the Charter Internet Lite 1 meg for 19.99 and I'm getting sick of it. Their next tier up is the express 12 meg for $45 and I'm just not willing to pay that much for internet.
I don't need TV or a home phone.
AT&T is not available for my area and Verizon wants to charge me $40 a month for 1.1 to 3 Mbps connection.
Do I have any other options? |

I'm having he same problem as well in West LA. I have 1 Mbps VZ DSL (dry loop) for $24/month. The next price tier is $45, which seems like too much. Cable pricing is similar.
The only viable option seems to be to play the specials year after year and just switch back and forth between service providers every year.
I'd be happy with something in the $~30 price range that was faster than 1 Mbps; the only company I've seen offer that is DSL extreme. Given their reviews on this site, I'm not inclined to sign up. |

They got a 3 meg for $25 which is not bad. But they want a year long contract for that price. I'll have to do some more research. |

Haven't necessarily read their DSLExtreme reviews, but i used them for the better part of 3 years - As a previously happy customer, I'd just say "go for it!" |

Yep, I was with them for over 5 years and they were the best ISP I've ever had. Their customer service is amazing. I'd still be with them if 6meg DSL service was possible at this house.
I really miss DSLExtreme every time I go through the Hell that Time Warner calls customer service. |
