Re: Modem Reset Everyday in Brampton + Slow Download Speeds If Rogers is pushing the updated firmware in other neighbourhoods, you might try taking your modem to that neighbourhood and leaving it hooked up for a couple of days. There is a pretty good chance that the new firmware will get pushed automatically.
Anybody on Rogers cable will do, they don't have to have internet service. Bonus if they have cable internet though, 'cause then you could trade modems and you'd both still be online.
I'm happy to be a guinea pig if somebody wants to try this, but my cable modem is currently on loan, so I can only hook yours up.. Just send me a PM. |

Does the newer firmware resolved the reset problem though? |

I'm only just reading about this stuff now... It sounds like it is a Brampton only issue, and an issue only with the old DCM475 firmware. That would mean either something special in Brampton doesn't like the old firmware or Rogers just never got around to pushing the new firmware in Brampton.
So, there are a lot of ifs, but if Rogers is pushing new firmware other places, just not in Brampton, then the suggestion would help. You'd have to leave the modem hooked up for a good long time to find out (24hours minimum, or you haven't accomplished anything). |

 | Kinda hard to find someone you can give to if you don't have relatives in those areas...
Also. Just got this in direct fourms
"reply to aumkarpraja Hi,
We are still working on the issue. Currently its looking like the end of this month or the beginning of next for the upgrades to be complete. This should stop the slowdowns in the eve.
If you do not wish to have a ticket open we will simply have to wait to see if the issue is resolved after the upgrade.
Thanks, TSI_James "

What upgrade are they talking about? They never said anything about a Brampton upgrade. |

What upgrade are they talking about? They never said anything about a Brampton upgrade. It seems he just read a script. There is no congestion at 13 hansen POI and thus no upgrades, but there is a lot of local node congestion. |

 | reply to aumkarpraja Anyone taking up on Teddy Boom offer? I don't have a car and its going to be hard to not have internet for one day due to our phone being connected to it. Won't mind to hear someone doing it and if it work, I'm going to have to convince them (family) to bare it a day.
This thread is about two issues and its hard to focus on one in one thread.
Even reading the direct forum questions, it seems to lean toward the slow down issue instead of the modem resets.
Whats the official word on the reset problem? Teksavvy doesn't want to post in this thread and its probably just for liability reason (why admit a fault?). |

Coincidentally, I just received a DCM475 from eBay, and here are the firmware details:Status Code: Not Synchronized Software Version: STAC.02.08 Software Model: a81a Bootloader: 2.3.0
So, I'm going to plug it in and see if a firmware miraculously gets pushed to it. However, it is not provisioned on an account, so that may be an issue... |

 | reply to aumkarpraja Is your new DCM475 working okay Teddy?

Anymore users still having daily reset problem? Did you guys call in? What did they say? |

Then at 12:38am....

 | reply to aumkarpraja Hey guys,
I'm with rogers using their smcd3gn modem, and I'm experiencing similar issues, except my modem is resetting like every hour, for about 5 minutes.. so I'm wondering if this is a rogers problem, since Teksavvy uses their lines as well. Switching to Teksavvy next month, so hopefully this is all resolved soon.
The weird thing is when I was using the sb6120 with rogers it was fine, but I had to switch back to renting rogers' modem since they wouldn't deprovision it for teksavvy. |

In this threads, the users that are having resetting problem is using DCM475. The reset times are predictable and it isn't as frequently as hourly.
Speaking of which...

So if you were using SB6120 and it was fine then its mostly likely that rogers has screwed up the modem configuration for smcd3gn and as well as DCM475. So I guess you will be using SB6120 with teksavvy right? If yes then do report back if you encounter any problems with it as I'm also using SB6120 as well and its pretty good so far very sable and fast connection.
I read your post on rogers forum and its seem that the exchanged smcd3gn still has same problems which only proves that rogers has screwed up the configuring process.
Anyways good luck with SB6120 and teksavvy! |

 | reply to aumkarpraja I feel so stupid ordering the DCM475. Should have just order the Motorola instead through eBay or something. Saving of $20 definitely is not worth it!
Still having daily reset here in Brampton. |

 | reply to aumkarpraja Why has Teksavvy not responded to this thread yet?
Why do all of us have to make threads in the direct forum for the same issue?
I see many other threads with less urgent matters or that affect less people that have been responded to.
I am seriously doubting my decision to go with Teksavvy right now... |

| reply to aumkarpraja Alright guys I got a rely from Teksavvy and they do have an order to upgrade the POI but they had to put it on hold because of issues on other POIs but the approximate ETA is mid October for upgrades which will fix speed and packet loss issues here in Brampton but nothing for reset issues thus far. |
