shooting ranges?

I know of a couple indoor ranges in the area. Are there any outdoor? Are there any other indoor ranges that are good?

Thanks,
Scooby

Ranges I have visited:
Maxon in Des Plaines
HP Shooting Center in McHenry
GAT Guns in Dundee

Don't know anything about it, other than I can hear it every night.

I think they only shoot twice a week (Sunday afternoons and Thursday nights) - but yeah, I can always hear it too.

Scooby, you're not that far from me -- you can go up to Cheese-land for a couple options. Bristol is okay but kind of a pain with their rules. I prefer McMiller out past Lake Geneva, it's a really nice facility with 25, 50, 100, 200, and 300 yd ranges, sporting clays, trap machines, and a .22 plinking range. I make a day of it and blow through a bunch of ammo but it's a good time for less than $20 for a day pass. But a bit of a drive....

For a quick trip I go to HP. There's an indoor range at Bass Pro at Gurnee Mills, $16/hr but it's automated and clean/ventilated.

Wow. You're right. I would have bet anything that I hear it more often than that. Guess not.

There is Buffalo Range in Ottawa, best public range by far in the area. They allow rapid fire. Another would be the Sycamore Sportsman club with open shoots on weekend afternoons. Possibly you can also shoot at the Aurora club in Waterman.

There's a pistol range in Elmwood Park on Greand Ave. Not sure, but Bell's (in Bellwood) used to have one, I think.

Bells is still around? That's where we used to go with my grandfather. I thought it was Stone Park though.

Well, they are in Franklin Park according to the yellow pages. I always confuse those strip joint towns with each other. Their phone number rings, so I'm thinking they're probably in business, but I wouldn't go there without confirming it first.

I'm trying to remember the name of the indoor range on Irving Park Road in Bensenville.

I'm not sure if Little Dickhead Daley managed to buy them out and tear them down as part of the O'Hare expansion though.

They did. Gun World Range moved or is moving to Lombard.
