Small network clean-up / upgrade

neat and clean... (After)
I was handed a task this week to upgrade some infrastructure to support inter-vlan routing.... There are TWO sites - this is the SECOND site, the HQ site is a lot more cumbersome and will take a bit more planning, so look out for those pix in the next few weeks...

This site is this company's business continuity/disaster recovery site. It consists of a VM cluster with a 4'ish TB SAN and a IBM iSeries/AS400 box...

All of this equipment has been configured to receive real-time replications from their HQ site. basically everything in these pix sits here is not-active UNTIL the day their HQ site blows up...

Nice job.

I wish I could do the same with one of the racks at work that's an absolute mess. Unfortunately it is right up against the wall (no access to the back). To move the rack would require taking everything in it out of service for a while, which is simply not going to happen.

In other words, it's a mess and it will always be a mess.

Nice work, need to do something about that bundle hanging on the left hand side.

Also, are those zip ties? Some people would hang you for that.

Linksys to a 4503!

Thats one hell of an upgrade

On a side note - I HATE putting switches in server enclosures, cable management is a bitch when you have room on the sides, and no trays.

lol, yeah - I ran out of velcro half way through and was on a pretty tight timeframe, so I was FORCED to use zip ties :-( Plus as much as zip ties SUCK, I used it to bundle the stuff together whcih should NEVER move (SAN connectivity / VM cluster connectivity)...

The bundle on the left side will always hang there - it's the patches to the patch panel which is mounted on the wall. There's no pretty way to wire manage it down the rack to get to the wall....
