pokesphIt Is Almost FastPremium join:2001-06-25 Sacramento, CA kudos:1 | It's telling my email server that it is a permanent error..
I did try to resend only to get the same bounce. |

pokesphIt Is Almost FastPremium join:2001-06-25 Sacramento, CA kudos:1 | reply to pokesph Tried again this morning, its still bouncing submission emails..
I can't seem to send any phish reports in now because of this. Someone may need to check it. |

| I checked the logs, I see a bounce at 11:59 today. It returns error code 450, which is a soft bounce If your server is treating that as a permanent error, then it's not behaving properly.
I don't see any other attempts.
Is this the right log entry:

pokesphIt Is Almost FastPremium join:2001-06-25 Sacramento, CA kudos:1 | reply to pokesph well now.. the returned report says it's perm.. and my server is seeing that way.
anyway, why is it even bouncing at all? Something isn't right as to cause the bounce in the first place. I've sent from that same email account since the tracker was opened, and never had issues before. |

| It's greylisting, that's how it works. It'll soft-bounce the first email and note it when the server retries in 5+ minutes. Next email would not bounce.
It saves it as sender->recipient and keeps track for a while (I forget exactly how long we have it configured for, but it's no more than a few days).
It works quite well to help prevent spam.
Are you using a different email server or changed something in config? We've had greylisting turned on for years now.

pokesphIt Is Almost FastPremium join:2001-06-25 Sacramento, CA kudos:1 | nothing has changed on my end.. same email account from the same server without any changes. server is properly set up, uses normal best practices, spf, DKM, reverse dns, etc
Have sent many phish reports previously and never had a bounce before. this, for me anyway, is something recent. |

| I have seen greylisting before. I don't see a bounce, but the logs show that the mail is delayed in sending. I agree with nil , that greylisting has been in use for several years (probably at least 4 or 5 years).
Check whether the configuration of your server has changed. -- AT&T Uverse; Zyxel NBG334W router (behind the 2wire gateway); openSuSE 11.4; firefox 6.0.2 |
