Re: [Hockey] 2011-2012 Ottawa Senators Season Thread Oh look.... another national sports writer trying to act like he knows anything about the Sens! Actually does a decent job of it too, until he talks about Lehner having a good chance at making the team, and being in a fight with Auld for the backup position...

| reply to Kardinal Hee hee....his only real commentary on the Senators was "like the Leafs are doing", several times. Wow, that's some deep lateral thinking going on, right there, and given that he doesn't know that Lehner has already been told he'll be in Bingo this year to get a lot of playing time (as he wouldn't in Ottawa), I'll have to think that he doesn't do much research for his writing beyond seeing what comparisons he can make with the blue team. -- All of us get lost in the darkness, dreams learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter, dreamers turn to look at the cars Join Team Helix

Where Spezza ranks amongst forwards.
Think I'll pass on taking him, in my pools. -- ~~Get our troops home...now!!~~ |

bt join:2009-02-26 canada kudos:1 | Spezza will be a bit of a fantasy gamble this year, just because he won't have any proven scorers to feed the puck to. If one of the kids really steps up, I think Spezza will turn into a late round gem. |

| reply to Kardinal Carkner has knee surgery today and is out at least a month; I guess this means Rundblad will be sticking around for a while, but I doubt he'll be playing every game.
At practice today:
Forward lines: Michalek-Spezza-Filatov, Greening-Zibanejad-Alfredsson, Foligno-Smith-Neil, Condra-Konopka-Butler * extra = Da Costa
Blue line: Phillips-Lee, Kuba-Karlsson & Cowen-Gonchar * extra = Rundblad

| reply to Kardinal So a bunch of Leafs fans have come up with a plan to "mess with the Ottawa All-Star game voting" to get under the skin of Sens fans.
The plan? Get as many "hated" ex-Sens players as possible on to the roster.
The problem? That's pretty much limited to Heatley, who stands a good chance of making it anyways. Every other player they've listed is, at the most, a player Ottawa fans don't actually care about one way or another. Several are players that many Ottawa fans still actively like (Chara and Fisher for example).
And getting a few more ex-Sens onto the roster would play in nicely with the 20th anniversary year stuff that the team has going on. |

Love those front loaded contracts. Alfie's already said it isn't about the money, it's about how he feels. Right now, he's feeling good and wants to play, but he's also 38 years old and realizes he may not feel that way at the end of the year.
He's not looking to be a hired gun UFA with a big money one year contract in, say, Vancouver.

| reply to Kardinal Nice to get the win at the home opener last night.
Also nice to see Heatley floating along.... Though a bit surprising. I was expecting more early season heroics from him due to the "see? I'm awesome!" effort from being on a new team.
Wasn't nice to see Gonchar being booed for just about everything last night (including things like "touching the puck" and "being introduced in the opening ceremony"). He hasn't had a good season so far, but at least save the booing for when he does something wrong. |

HiVoltPremium join:2000-12-28 Toronto, ON kudos:12 | I watched the game last night, Sens had another good comeback in the 3rd period and this time succeeded, hehe...
However, this isn't the right formula, they can't be falling behind 2-0 every game. -- GO LEAFS GO! |
