[NEW MEXICO] any suggestions?

I'm thinking of moveing to NM, and would appreciate any and all help. Looking for small town/country life, but close enough to city for work. I was thinking between Santa Fe, and Albuquerque, but welcome any and all suggestions/info.
I'm a blue collar guy, so COL is a factor.
