Davy49 join:2007-04-10 Jacksonville, FL | Is This True About Sprint Hello, I work in the retail industry, today I talked with a customer who....as it turns out is the manager of a soon to open verizon store. While we were talking, the subject of sprint came up, he told me that verizon provides cell service for sprint. He said that sprint gets the 'leftovers' of their service. Is this true ?? Thanks, David |

WHT join:2010-03-26 kudos:3 | reply to Davy49 Sprint and Verizon use identical technologies, and can therefore provide roaming agreements with each other. Therefore if you have a Sprint phone and travel into an area where Sprint has no coverage, your phone would roam on Verizon's network.
As for Sprint getting Verizon's "left overs"? Sounds like Verizon FUD against a competitor. |

For sure... since Sprint's network maintains the same frequencies across their network, while verizon had to piece together several frequencies to build their network long after sprint's was up and running.
Verizon let sprint do all the work of getting CDMA working properly and then came in a cloned the design. |

Sprint has had a long term roaming agreement with Verizon.
Sprint residential users have roaming caps. Sprint residential data users may roam on Verizon, but not at 3G or faster speeds.
Verizon customers do not roam on Sprint.
Last year Sprint paid Verizon nearly 2 billion dollars in compensation for Sprints use of Verizons cellular network. |
