 | ubee DOCSIS 3.0 Compliant (router) drops VPN connection Using AT&T Network Client, connection gets dropped intermittently. Sometimes it works for a minute, and others for hours. Not sure if it is a configuration issue with the client or a router issue. Problem just surfaced in the past 2 weeks, no network upgrades or changes (firmware) or anything additional installed on computer with said Network Client. error messages include: --Disconnected after 1:07:30 (RAS error 0, login error 118). --VPN connect attempt failed (error 118 '!Error 118 No response from VPN endpoint during authentication. This can occur if IP Protocol 50(IPSec ESP) or UDP protocol 4500 is blocked by a firewall or IPSec passthrough is not enabled on your home router.'). --VPN connect attempt failed (error 229 'The connection timed out waiting for the VPN server to respond. This can occur if your computer is behind a firewall that does not permit UDP or IPSec traffic. Contact your local network administrator for assistance. (229)'). --A VPN status message was received: '!Error 227 Missed heartbeat with VPN server. Server appears t o be down.'. --!Error 227 Missed heartbeat with VPN server. Server appears to be down. (118)

 | Any corresponding logs from the other end? Based on the logfile you provided, it couldn't reach the other end and terminated the connection.

| reply to frankeb22 I see that your location is listed as Bastrop. Is either end of the affected network in or near Bastrop? If so, then there is a good chance that some telco wires and/or switching equipment somewhere along the way was damaged in the wildfires there. Since the problem seems to coincide with about the time that the fires started, I would suggest to first contact AT&T. |

 | reply to frankeb22 It appears the problem has been found. This UBEE router does not play nice with the AT&T vpn client. AT&T confirmed that said client has known issues with other routers/modems, (cisco). This brand of router may make the list of known problematic routers. I tested this theory by attaching PC to another router/modem at neighbors house, worked flawlessly, AND reconnected my old modem (Webstar - Scientific-Atlantic), also is working with no drops. |
