Re: Canadian ISP Summit The summit has begun. Bell Kool Aid at full force. Even Bill Sandiford has changed his badge lanyard to from an Arin one to a Bell Canada one.
And now, Tom Little will speak. He used to be head of wholesale and has been promoted higher up. He is to present how great a relationship Bell wants with ISP.
Disclaimer: Bell canada paid for the drinks at the bar last night so we all drank the Kool Aid. Great PR move from Bell. And Bell als gave us an incredible kit with all sorts of geek stuff (USB adaptors, USB hub, mini mouse, card readers etc. Bell is a great company and is working hard to improve its relationship with ISPs.
BTW, Wholesale is a big part of Bell Canada in terms of profits. |

| Tom Little of Bell Canada |
Growth for Bell is leveling off, so it needs the help of ISPs to get customers back from cable. Admits that the existing non-UBB tariff from Rogers has been very succesfull at moving customers from DSL to Cable (a loss for Bell). |

There's a reason why TekSavvy will soon have 70 gigabit of connectivity with Rogers, but until recently had only 300 megabit of connectivity with Videotron. Yes, there's a population difference, and yes, there's a popularity difference, but really it's the high prices and low caps for TPIA in Quebec that mean the vast majority of TSI's customers in Quebec are on DSL, not cable. -- Developer: Tomato/MLPPP, Linux/MLPPP, etc »fixppp.org |

Yup. Every time B#ell files something absolutely insane (like tarriffs with monthly rates that are about $1 less than retail, and $190 installation fees), Videotron then files their own tariff that tops it. |

| reply to Guspaz Yeah, if there will be anything half decent for a fair price on cable, I'm jumping ship in seconds. Getting tired of paying dry-loop, being moved of a remote, etc. And considering how well Videotron manages their network and how quickly they upgraded for TSI, I see only good things. |

Rubber will hit the road at 16:00 when folks like Bibic run to their coprate offices to meet with the CEO to decide how to handle the result of the decision.
And Mr Guspaz is correct. Videotron, being the only one to have implemented retail UBB for its wholeasale is the one will will be most affected by the decision. |
