I have a WNDR3700 v2 that has been working great for the first 2-3 weeks. Now all of a sudden at various times during the day I lose internet connectivity. I can still access resources on the lan but nothing on the interenet. If I login to the router and go to the basic settings page of the setup and click apply, internet access comes back. I don't change any of the settings, I just click apply. I have looked at the log and it only shows dhcp release and renewal from the lan and the remote login to the router. There are no errors shown. I logged into the docsis3 modem and it shows no issues nor errors. Is there a setting that can fix this? Or is the router defective?
I had that problem with my WNDR3700. The Traffic Meter was the problem and turning it off stopped the disconnects. Upgrading to firmware V1.0.7.98NA fixed the problem.
Netgear offers an even newer firmware version but many people are reporting problems with it. Stick with V1.0.7.98NA -- Craig »www.CraigHarris.org My BLOG on Motorcycles and Computer Stuff.
Traffic meter is disabled already. The firmware version V1.0.0.8 the gui version is V1.0.0.56. Do they have the V1.0.7.98NA version on their web site that I can download?
reply to ElAguila A couple of things come to mind, one is the DHCP addresses. I had this when the router assigned 2 PC's the same IP address (one had been off for a very long time). To fix this, assign each of your devices a fixed IP address.
My second experience with this behavior is that someone near you is running the same channel. Go grab and run »www.metageek.net/products/inssider/
It will display nearby signals and over lapping channels. You can adjust yours accordingly. The WND3700 sends out a very strong signal, so if a neighbor is using the same, you may have to adjust your channel.
Thanks to everyone for their input. I was able to find a temporary solution by looking on the netgear forums. It seems there is a firmware bug with the newer firmware and the wan dns servers. That is why it started out of the blue. I did upgrade the firmware.
