Re: Star Wars The Old Republic Official Thread

Also set your comparison to detailed so you can compare enhancements, mods etc. Often times an item may not be entirely right for you but an enhancement or mod may be a major upgrade for you.

I'd take the time to insult your intelligence but you probably wouldn't get it.

I've done this as well, solo looted a mod item and while the item as a whole wasn't for my class I was able to strip a mod out of it and use it in my gear as an upgrade.

My new Sith warrior juggernaut is level 11 now (yar I know, still so new). I'm following the smash guide that I linked earlier, except I'm pumping up Decimate first (10% more damage, 1sec less CD per talent point, upto 3/3). I force jump and do an immediate smash, because Vette likes to open with her grenade. Most of the weak mobs are dead or near dead. So fun

He seems to be taking a lot more damage after getting to Dromund Kaas than before though. I guess the starter hello kitty island has less mobs per group or something.

Since I keep alt jumping, and Vette gets +5 treasure hunting critical, I decided to take the crew skills bioanalysis/scavenging/treasure hunting. My highest toon has biochem so she can make all the healing packs and stims, and I can gather up the scavenging for cybertech later. Treasure hunting supposedly can return really good gear as well.

anyone notice some graphics changes with the new patch? Im talking specifically about the global cooldown shown when you cast something.
When the global cooldown ends, all my abilities glow really really brightly for a second, and they didnt do that before.

i couldnt find an option to turn it off, its pretty distracting.

YES! I hate the new cooldown look. It's not the bright glow that annoys me, but it's harder to tell when the ability is actually ready to use. There seems to be a lag between when it is ready and when it actually glows, so now I'm smashing my buttons more...

I noticed the same thing last night. I dont like it either cuz my comp is crap and my abilities are actually ready before it lights up again but doesnt distract me that much.

This.. I don't mind the new effect, but I wish useable abilities were lit up so you can plan ahead during the GCD

So I got with a raiding guild 2-3 nights a week for 3 hours.

Did our first run with them last night.

Cleared EV on normal with 2 wipes, then went to the Hutt Palace and went 3 of 5 with 3-4 attempts on the 4th boss. Even on Normal, the palace was definatly harder then EV, but the fights were fun, not too complicated and relied for the most part on doing solid DPS with some situational awareness rather then dance mechanics that really turned my off in Cata.

One robot fight in the palace even had a little puzzle deal you had to do during the fight to drop the bosses armor stacks.. kinda cool and different.

I'd rate EV 4/5 overall, and about 1-2/5 for difficultly. The palace, 4/5 overall again, with difficulty at 2-3/5.

Googling around I see there's a ton of feedback on this new icon cooldown, and most of it is bad. Hope they change it back.

Yeah, it's pretty shitty. I am having a hard time seeing what's really available to use.

The other thing that is bugging me now is when you sell stuff on the market, when you get the email notifications, sometimes they are generic and give no details.

Sometimes they will say, "Soandso bought your item of Bronzium for $5999 etc etc" but sometimes they say, "Someone bought something from you off the market." and nothing else. Both emails are the same way. You get a notification email that it has sold and another email after 1 hour letting you claim your money.

Makes it tough to track selling prices. I miss the Eve market where you could see what the average prices on stuff was. I have no idea what to charge on Grade 6 metals and compounds since there are none on the market ever to know what a fair price is. I bet I am selling for way less than I should.

I kind of wish they let you know what sold instead of just "You have new mail." Nothing super important, but something I'd like.

On the icon cooldown fiasco; I like the change except for the problems that every seems to state with abilities being hard to recognize as being available. Now, I've only played maybe 3-4 hours with it on wednesday, so maybe it hasn't impacted me as much.

I had major crash issues with this game, even turning most of the goodies off.

My specs are intel Q9555x ,8 gig Ram, nvidia gtx 570

I pulled all my ram and reseated, threw in some more fans (card runs really hot) and turned down cpu overclocking.

No more crashes, everything runs well at highest settings (shadows medium) resolution 1080, vsync 60.

Frames drop a bit in crowded PVP brawls, but otherwise all is well.

I was feeling unsatisfied by my mercenary, mostly because game play was too similar to my smuggler. So I rerolled and went powertech. MUCH more fun melting people with flamethrowers.

I have a level 12 powertech as well that I want to melt mobs' faces with. Are you going pure pyrotech or doing shieldtech first?

I rerolled to Scoundrel from my sorc and I love it. I can kill people in their 40's while I was only in my teens. Best part is doing Warzones and stealth taking objectives, I've literally won or turned around over 30 games single handedly because of it. Its sad that most people in a Warzone just want to pew pew rather then win. Best part is games like Alderaan where some moron is standing on a turret "defending" it and I just sneak up and take it from him, half the time they dont even realize it happened. Highlight moments so far:

Alderaan we were losing 5 to 60(seconds from losing) and we had 2/3 turrets towards the end. I took the third turret suspending our point loss at 5 from hitting 0 and we won the game.

Took all 3 doors on a Voidstar game and the console at the end.

I went into the tank tree, whatever that's called.

Purchased this game a few days ago and was having a blast until I queued up for a pvp match.

I have a decent rig, but seriously. Jumped into a warzone and it was like I was running a 10 year old computer. Very disheartening. Running Nvidia, and I hear now there maybe some issues there.

Questing and in the capital city I have no issue (sub 100 latency and 60+fps). Just warzones, and I expect soon flashpoints as well, are killing it for me. Turned shit way down, didn't help much.

Anyone else have these issues? If so, were you able to resolve them?

Cheers.

I've personally been ok. One fix I do know of is dowlnloading the DX9 drivers. Apparently, if you have Dx11, it emulates some Dx9 files you need and screws with performance (I'm not mister tek savvy, so if you need to know why, you may have to google it or ask anohter user).

A number of people have indicated this improves performance drastically.

The only time you should get bogged down on a decent system is if there's some 40 v. 40 going in in Illum.

Somewhere earlier in this thread I think someone posted article/link to the DX11 fix.
