Ridiculous

Verizon is just installing where it will make money. Poor areas that happen to be mostly black/latino likely won't subscribe to FIOS at as great a rate as richer, whiter suburbs. It has nothing to do with race per se, it's all about economics.

hahaha.
They may not have it in San Francisco, or Pleasanton, or the whole Bay Area, but forgetting Buffalo? THE HORROR

You're wrong. Plenty of poor people would sign up for the service and conversely there are many well-to-do families that would not.

Examples don't trump the overall statistics.

Explain why Verizon wired less affluent areas in the Bronx first (Williamsbridge and Wakefield) before wiring neighborhoods like Country Club, Pelham Bay, and Throgs Neck (more affluent)? And Riverdale, the richest neighborhood, will be wired last.

Re: Ridiculous

Verizon stopped Fios deployment, but they already had a contract with the city of New York for 100% Fios.

As for U-Verse, it's a different technology, and it's very cheap to wire U-Verse for dense apartments, since you could have thousands of customers within 3000 wire feet, versus out in the 'burbs where you'd have hundreds or fewer.

The westside of Chicago has been lit up for about a year now with Uverse while At&t skipped some of the higher income parts of the city and surrounding burbs.
/I would think you would get more profit from a 1 mile square full of 200-300apartments than a 1 mile square with 15-30 houses
