 | Ok.... But the raising + opener is Thursday !!!! |
|
 | I'll be hard at work goofing off, watching on the (relatively) Big Screen.
Plenty of beer in the fridge there but staying overnight is usually a pain. |

A lot of us wondered, though, how much it cost to get him at our event *over* being at the Garden? o.O -- -Frosty, KA1FOX |

| Well, the on-ice "Senior" Bruins were all from the Stanley cup winning team, and I don't think was a member of the Bruins then. In 71/72 season, he only played in 1 Game, and no playoff experience. He spent that season with the Boston Braves, minor league team. -- "Not a stick, not a spliff, not even a puff." .... The Harder They Come, with Jimmy Cliff. |

| reply to Miataman We haven't chatted about the Bruins much.
From ESPN: TORONTO -- NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan had pointed words for the criticism coming from Buffalo that goalies aren't being protected enough after his decision not to suspend Boston's Milan Lucic for his collision with Ryan Miller.
On Saturday, Miller was knocked to the ice by Lucic when the goalie strayed from his net to play the puck in the first period of Buffalo's .
"It just means that teams will be to able do exactly what Lucic did," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff told reporters in Montreal. "Your goaltender can play the puck, we can run him over, we can hurt him and all you get is a two-minute minor penalty.
"That is essentially what that means -- you can concuss the other team's goalkeeper ... it means it's fair game on goaltenders again."

As a former goalie (street, cranberry bog, pond, arena), when you leave the crease, you get hit. My bells have been rung a few times.
I bet NE DSLR could field a good team. Something along the line of insane.

Granted we weren't physical but I did have pucks thrown at me intentionally. I learned pretty quick to make a very fast decision on if I was going to block it or let it go. Never played on ice skates, wonder how much fun that would be? Jungle Rules Hockey? First team to bleed a pint of blood loses? -- »www.jrslaterphotography.com/

| reply to Miataman Great November! I love the game but I'm not a good commentator.
Bruins are on top of ESPN's Power Ranking (for what it's worth).
I have been watching games and have been wearing my Bruins hat. The hat is looking a bit rough but that shows I'm not a "pink hat". Actually, it's pretty grubby so pink wouldn't have anything to do with it. |

| reply to Miataman Hats off to Bruins' Marchand
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS December 24, 2011
BOSTON The Santa hats came flying out of the stands to celebrate Brad Marchands third goal of the game, and the Boston fans began taunting the Florida Panthers by chanting, Merry Christmas!
The defending Stanley Cup champions are heading into the holiday break the same way they started their summer: As the hottest team in hockey.
Marchand had his first career hat trick and a career-high five points to help Boston beat Florida 8-0 on Friday night, giving the Bruins their sixth consecutive victory and their most lopsided win of the season. Boston has won 20 of its last 23 games.
Merry Xmas indeed! |

| reply to Miataman NEW YORK -- Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been suspended for five games and will forfeit $152,439.02 for clipping Vancouver Canucks defenseman Sami Salo during NHL Game #598 in Boston on Saturday, Jan. 7, the National Hockey Leagues Department of Player Safety announced today.
Marchand, who received a two-game suspension in March 2011, is classified as a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Accordingly, he forfeits his salary based on the number of games in the season (82), rather than the number of days (185). The money goes to the Players Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident occurred at 18:47 of the second period. Marchand received a major penalty for clipping and a game misconduct.
Marchand will miss games Jan. 10 vs. Winnipeg, Jan. 12 vs. Montreal, Jan. 14 at Carolina, Jan. 16 at Florida and Jan. 17 at Tampa Bay. He will be eligible to return Jan. 19 at New Jersey.
