HTTP access from within LAN?

Hello,

I am using the Belkin F5D9230-4 v5000 router, configured as a simple LAN, with both my NAS server and my laptop on the network.

The problem is, I cannot access the HTTP server running on the NAS server (within my LAN) using its IP address or public hostname form *within* the LAN. Access the NAS server (port-forwarded from 81 to 80) externally works without any hitches -- both by IP and public host name. Also, accessing internally using the LAN IP address (192.168.2.101) works fine. However, I want to be able to type in "foobar.dyndns.org:81" (or 80) in my browser within the LAN and access the server similarly. The request simply times out, even though I can verify the server is receivign *some* TCP packets.

Note that accessing the SSH server on this same server machine works fine from inside/outside LAN using public IP/hostname.

My ISP is Virgin Media, if that helps. I believe it blocks port 80, but not the majority.

Thanks,
Alex

@cox.net

you can change that in your hosts file in the os you are running.
foobAR.DYNDNS.ORG:81 192.168.2.101 AND POSSIBLE ON THE belkin router. Your other option is to use port 8080 and port forward in the router ;however, this means you use the internet to access your has server.
